The West Indies Bay tree (Pimenta racemosa) is indigenous to the islands of St. John and St. Thomas in the Caribbean. Sailors sailing around the Caribbean in the 16th century began rubbing the West Indies Bay leaves on their bodies to mask their body odor on long voyages. The sailors discovered that infusing the leaves in rum made application easier. The rest, as they say, is history, and the Bay Rum scent was born. Over the centuries, sailors carried the scent around the world, adding in citrus peels, spices, and other ingredients to enhance the fragrance.
For generations, the spicy Caribbean Bay Rum scent has graced the shelves of wet shavers and barber shops around the world. Now you can enjoy that great traditional scent in our Bay Rum Men's Shaving Soap. Our Bay Rum Shaving Soap has that lovely subtle Bay Rum scent and produces rich, creamy, dense foam.
Our Bay Rum Shaving Soap is made from 100% natural ingredients and has a wonderfully refreshing Bay Rum scent.Contains no synthetic fragrance; No synthetic dyes; No parabens; No sulfates; No synthetic surfactants………only plant-based oils, natural palm wax, Dominican Bay oil and Bentonite clay. This soap produces a rich dense foam when whipped up using a bowl and shaving brush.
Our shaving soaps contain a high level of fat (derived from plant-based oils) and natural glycerin. Glycerin is important because it serves as a humectant, which locks in water and hydrates the skin. It is also an efficient emollient because it softens the beard and leaves the skin smooth and moisturized while creating an effective barrier between the blade and your skin.
* Shaving bowl, razors, and shaving brush which may be shown in the description photos are for display purposes only and are not included with the soap purchase. Color of soap may vary slightly from batch to batch. But that is the beauty of handmade products. 😁

Many people ask us what the name “Paradesha” means. They think it is where the word ‘paradise’ came from. And whereas the thought of all-natural soaps does make us think of a paradise where no harsh chemicals would exist, the name of our company does not mean ‘paradise farms’. We chose the name of our company from the ancient Sanskrit word paradēśa (परदेश) which means “a foreign land” or “traveling abroad to a distant land”. And paradēśa (परदेश) can be transliterated into English as ‘Paradesha’. And of course, all businesses involved in the food and natural products value chain, and those institutions that influence it, are part of the agribusiness (farming) system. Thus the name, "Paradesha Farms".
